The Position


As Data Scientist, you will join a growing Research & Development team and collaborate with other Data Scientists and Engineers to research, prototype and trial machine learning algorithms for analytics and real-time optimization of live equipment in the built environment and beyond.

Reporting to the Head of Research & Development, you will get the opportunity to work directly with customers and stakeholders across a range of industries globally, see the direct results of your work through demonstrable energy savings and contribute to addressing global warming.

Deliver robust proven solutions and work closely with and around our software development team to integrate them in our range of products and contribute from beginning to end of a project.

Take advantage of our key position in the industry to build a more sustainable future through predictive technology and leveraging the wealth of under-utilised data from embedded sensors scattered through building systems. This is the opportunity to make your mark and drive innovation & methods in a small R&D team.

Location: Melbourne CBD


Essential skills and experience

  • Deep knowledge of machine learning and AI algorithms

  • Ability to design and tune deep neural network architectures (ANN, RNN, CNN)

  • Practical experience developing & deploying a machine learning algorithm in a real-world scenario

  • Ability to prototype robust solutions in Python

  • Advanced NumPy/SciPy, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow (or PyTorch)

  • Ability to perform data exploratory analysis for proof of concept and to communicate results to a diverse audience

  • Strong foundations in Mathematics

  • Postgraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Bioinformatics)

Desirable skills

  • Knowledge of Mathematical Optimization theory

  • Ability to understand and write tailored solver

  • Fundamentals of controls theory (Fuzzy Logic, Model Predictive Control, etc.)

  • Experience in writing clean and maintainable production software (e.g. in Python)

  • Experience in Julia
